These riots marked a major transition in Nazi policy, and were, in-many ways, a harbinger of the "Final Solution."

Nazi antisemitic policy began with the systematic legal, economic, and social disenfranchisement of the Jews. This was accomplished in various stages (e.g. The Nuremberg Laws of 1935, which, among other things, stripped German Jews of their citizenship.) One of these steps involved the deportation of Polish Jews who were residing in Germany (est. 56,500). On the night of October 27, 1938, 18,000 Polish Jews were deported, but were initially refused entry into Poland by the Polish authorities. Caught in between, the Jews were forced to camp out in makeshift shelters. Upon hearing that his family was so trapped, 17 year-old Herschel Grynszpan, a student in Paris, shot the third secretary of the German Embassy, Ernst vom Rath, whom he mistook for the ambassador. This assassination served as a welcome pretext for the German initiation of Kristallnacht.

Heydrich Orders Policy of Violence

Reinhard Heydrich (the head of the Reich Main Security Office which oversaw the Gestapo, police and SD operations) sent a secret telegram at 1:20 A.M., November 10, 1938 to "all head quarters and stations of the State Police; all districts and sub-districts of the SD" He gave instructions for the immediate coordination of police and political activities in inciting the riots throughout Germany and Austria. "...The demonstrations are not to be prevented by the police," he ordered, rather, the police are "...only to supervise the observance of the guidelines."

The result of this policy was the first violent pogrom (riot) on Western European soil in hundreds of years. 36 Jews were killed (some authorities have this figure as high as 91); 30,000 more were deported to concentration camps; 267 synagogues were burned and over 7,000 Jewish shops, businesses and homes were vandalized and ransacked.

Immediately after Kristallnacht, a fine of one billion marks was levied, not upon the criminals, but upon the victims, the Jewish community of Germany. Along with the fine came a decision, taken in a conference of Nazi leaders on November 12, 1938, to "Aryanize the German economy, to get the Jew out...." Nazi policy had now moved into the overt destruction of all Jewish life in the Third Reich.

Apathy in the Western World

The violence of Kristallnacht aroused the world to condemn the Nazi actions. President Franklin D. Roosevelt recalled the American ambassador from Berlin stating that he, "could scarcely believe that such things could occur in a twentieth century civilization." However, even the condemnations failed to change western immigration policies. With a few exceptions (e.g. En gland, which increased its absorption of refugees after Kristallnacht), the doors to safety remained barred. As one leader of German Jewry stated two months after Kristallnacht (January 25, 1939), "From America, nothing tangible (in immigration possibilities) has arrived." With violent antisemitism now institutionalized, and with few places to flee, the Jews of Germany, Austria, and later, occupied Europe, were trapped and doomed.

Kristallnacht serves as the symbol of that destruction. The synagogues and Torah scrolls that were burned and desecrated, signified, as Rabbi Leo Baeck had earlier realized, that "the thousand-year history of the Jews in Germanv had come to an end." It is that noble history and glorious legacy of German Jewry that we remember on Kristallnacht, a legacy of religious scholarship, intellectual creativity and scientific achievement. Nobel Prize winners and rabbinic scholars, businessmen and soldiers, government ministers and social activists all had their worlds shattered, along with the thousands of windows that gave Kristallnacht its name.

The Legacy of Kristallnacht

There are important lessons to be drawn from Kristallnacht, for it served as a bridge experience for both Jews and Nazis. For the Jews, there was the terrifying realization that political antisemitism can lead to violence, even in Western Civilization. It also demonstrated that apathy can still pervade the world when the lives of Jews or other minorities are threatened.

For the Nazis, Kristallnacht taught that while the world might condemn their pogroms, it would not actively oppose them. World opinion, however, taught the Nazis the value of secrecy in the perpetration of future actions against Jews. Added to the complaints of Germans offended by the random violence of Kristallnacht, the stage was set for the "Final Solution"--the organized, bureaucratically efficient genocide of 6,000,000 men, women, and children.

In retrospect, Kristallnacht was more than the shattering of windows and illusions. It portended the physical destruction of European Jewry. As such, this commemoration must be observed both as a memorial and as a warning.

Unfortunately, still relevant today - and you know why and where....

Italy

The majority of Italians don't seem keen on marriage and adoption for gays. Evidence may perhaps be seen when individuals such as democratic strategist Chris Cooper is quoted in the Washington Times saying "(T)his election was not about issues...if it were, clearly we would have won." Son I suppose that morality/personal values can't be considered issues? Am I not getting something? I think that morality/values are an issue - and apparently the majority of voting Americans confirmed it by electing Bush.
We then have Matt Farruto< dem. strat. from New Mexico, quoted in the same article: "When it comes to having a moral compass, our values are more in line with the American people... but it's very difficult to combat the deceptions of the GOP. They don't seem to have any compunction for honesty." Oh really? I'm hoping that I don't have to explain the complete insanity in this and the previous quotes. The left still won't face the reality that the majority of Americans obviously rejected the moral compass the left presents them.
Still, the MSM and the left are just going to ignore this fact and just keep calling us "backwoods" and "ignorant." Billy Garrett said. ''They actually believed he could identify them.''

They decided to go back for the bird, loading it into the getaway car as police arrived on the scene. He was being held Monday night in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas.

Williams, accused of choking his girlfriend until she was unconscious, failed to appear for his November trial and was convicted and sentenced in absentia.

Williams, 53, whose previous convictions include murder, was arrested last week in Arlington by a fugitive task force. His criminal record dates to the 1980s. He escaped from prison in 1985, according to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Williams has used disguises, posed as an attorney and used aliases such as "Justin Burroughs" and "Bubba Lee Williams," authorities said.

Before he was brought into the courtroom on Monday, Johnson directed gleeful courtroom staff members as they placed balloons and streamers around the courtroom. A colorful cake was decorated with "Welcome Home Billy Ray Williams."

"We're so excited to see you, we're throwing a party for you," Johnson told the fugitive.

Godless Churches Curse Israel by Don Feder

Another article - bastard presbots....

Presbyterian: Muslims easier to deal with than Jews

This article regards the presbots and their "divesting" from Israel. Too bad there aren't more leaders in other Chrisitan sects who speak out like Akinola. Anyway, a good piece:

Anglican: Gay issue has shattered church

An African Anglican leader said the Episcopal Church's confirmation of a gay bishop is tantamount to creating a new religion.

NEW YORK - (AP) -- The most influential Anglican leader in Africa -- home to nearly half the world's Anglicans -- said Thursday that the U.S. Episcopal Church has created a ''new religion'' by confirming a gay bishop in New Hampshire, breaking the bonds between the denominations with roots in the Church of England.

Archbishop Peter Akinola of Nigeria, in an Associated Press interview, also said he views the head of the Episcopal Church as an advocate for gays and lesbians and no longer trusts him.

His comments come less than two weeks before an international panel is scheduled to release a critical report on whether the global Anglican Communion can bridge its divide over homosexuality. The Episcopal Church is the U.S. branch of Anglicanism; Akinola leads the Anglican Church of Nigeria.

''The Communion is shattered. It is broken,'' Akinola said. ``The commonality that bound us together is no longer true.''

Akinola represents one of the fastest-growing Anglican provinces, comprising more than 17 million people. He is also chairman of the Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa, encompassing more than 37 million members, and has emerged as a leading voice for conservative Anglicans worldwide.

The Anglican Communion has about 77 million members around the globe. Episcopalians make up just over two million people in that body, a relatively small number -- though the American church is a wealthy one.

Akinola said he could not accept attempts to ''superimpose your modern culture on Scripture'' by ignoring what he said were Biblical injunctions against gay sex.

''I didn't write the Bible. It's part of our Christian heritage. It tells us what to do,'' Akinola said. ``If the word of God says homosexuality is an abomination, then so be it.''

Those who support ordaining gays contend Scripture does not ban same-sex relationships, and that there was no understanding in biblical times that homosexuality was a natural orientation, not a choice. Akinola said this reasoning sent an offensive message that the Bible ``is only for the primitive people.''

Akinola is in the United States exploring ways to allow American congregations upset over Robinson's election to realign themselves under his jurisdiction.

Each Anglican province is autonomous, and crossing geographical boundaries, as Akinola plans to do, is a direct challenge to Episcopal leaders.

Israel

Not much to say regarding the terror attacks in the Sinai region. Consider:

At Party A's national convention, a prime speaking slot went to an infamous racial inciter, one with an ugly history of Jew-baiting. At Party B's convention, a leading speaker recalled with empathy the many pre-9/11 victims of terrorism, such as Leon Klinghoffer, whom the killers ''marked ... for murder solely because he was Jewish.''

Party A's presidential nominee said nothing about Israel in his convention acceptance speech. Party B's nominee, on the other hand, made a point of referring to ''our good friend Israel'' - and his campaign later distributed that portion of his remarks to its national e-mail list.

Increasingly, Party A is the political home of those who demonize Jews, such as the South Carolina senator who claimed that the war in Iraq was launched to ''take the Jewish vote.'' Conversely, Party B has driven out the anti-Semites in its midst, and is now where the most ardent philo-Semites in American politics are concentrated.

So which party will American Jews vote for in November?

If you know your political tides, the answer won't surprise you: Jews will almost certainly vote overwhelmingly for Party A - the Democratic Party - just as they have for more than half a century. They will do so notwithstanding the Democrats' willingness to indulge a race-baiting hustler like Al Sharpton. Notwithstanding John Kerry's uncertain trumpet in the war against radical Islamic terror. Notwithstanding the Bush administration's unprecedented support and friendship for Israel.

For countless American Jews, loyalty to the Democratic ticket is as automatic as breathing. The roots of that loyalty run deep. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, waves of Jewish immigrants from Europe, where the most anti-Semitic elements of society were often the most conservative, brought with them an intense aversion to right-wing politics - and an appreciation for the left, which they associated with emancipation and equality. Those attitudes were intensified during World War II, when the most lethal enemy in Jewish history was ultimately destroyed by an alliance led by a liberal Democrat named Franklin Roosevelt.

But America in 2004 is very different from the America of 50 or 100 years ago. American Jews owe it to themselves to base their political loyalty on something stronger than force of habit. Those who vote for Democrats (or against Republicans) because that's what their parents and grandparents did ought to take a closer look: When it comes to the issues they care about most, their loyalty may be misplaced.

Israel, for example.

Like millions of Americans, many Jewish voters are concerned about the safety and security of Israel. It is a concern they share with George W. Bush, who presides over what is widely considered to be the most pro-Israel administration in history. That stands in contrast not only to his father's record - the first Bush administration had a very strained relationship with Israel - but to Bill Clinton's as well. During the Clinton years, no foreign leader visited the White House more frequently than Yasser Arafat. The current administration regards Arafat as an untrustworthy liar, and has never invited him to the White House.

Bush likewise broke with the past by insisting that Palestinian democracy and tolerance, and a leadership ''not compromised by terror,'' are prerequisites to peace with Israel. Unlike John Kerry, who speaks of making the United Nations a ''full partner'' in US foreign policy, Bush is under no illusions about the UN's intense anti-Israel hostility. Nor has he had any difficulty recognizing the poisonous strain of anti-Semitism that runs beneath some of the most virulent denuncations of the Jewish state.

When the UN's self-styled ''conference against racism'' in Durban, South Africa, in 2001 turned into a grotesque anti-semitic debauch, Bush ordered the US delegation to walk out. When the prime minister of Malaysia opened an international summit by declaring that ''Jews rule the world by proxy,'' Bush personally rebuked him. In all this, he has come across not as a politician acting out of calculated expedience, but as a man acting on principle and conviction.

Bush got only 19 percent of the Jewish vote in 2000; he has known all along that most Jews would vote Democratic in 2004. Yet there is nothing anomalous about his ardent support for Israel or his firm stance against anti-Semitism. Unlike the Europe of Jewish memory, in the United States today it is the left that has increasingly set its face against Jewish interests. As poll after poll confirms, conservative Republicans are much more likely to self-identify as pro-Israel than liberal Democrats. It is no surprise that a man like Pat Buchanan has had to leave the Republican Party. Or that a man like Sharpton is at home among the Democrats.

Of course these are not the only issues that Jewish voters care about. For many voters, Jewish or otherwise, domestic matters - abortion, jobs, taxes, the environment - trump every other concern.

But those for whom these issues do weigh heavily have an obligation to look beyond party label. This isn't 1944. Boggs McDonald said her support isn't due to her race, but to her work as a Las Vegas city official, city councilwoman and now county commissioner.

"I'm proud of my support in the African-American community," she said. "I have worked hard in my tenure in public office for that support ... I have a long history of involvement in the African-American community in West Las Vegas. "

Boggs McDonald said one of her proudest accomplishments as a public official was to broker the creation of the enterprise park at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lake Mead Drive. The 80-acre development includes black-oriented schools, businesses and the offices of the Urban Chamber of Commerce, she said.

"That transition alone was one of the major economic development projects after the Rodney King riots."

She also has been active with the St. James Catholic Church in predominantly black West Las Vegas, serving on the church's building committee.

She said the policies of the Republican leadership in the White House and Congress have spurred minority home ownership to an all-time high and encouraged small-business development for women and minorities.

The Bush administration, Boggs McDonald said, has one of the most ethnically diverse cabinets in history.

"I can never beat emotion and theatrics ... (but) the reality is that I have substantial support within the African-American community because I have earned that support," she said. "Many Democrats find that threatening."

The Democrats also took issue with Boggs McDonald's claim that the Republican Party is the party of "progress, prosperity and development," arguing that under Republican leadership, unemployment reached its highest point since 1994, and black unemployment is up 26 percent since Bush took office in January 2001.

Citing federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Democrats said in a news relrease that black unemployment declined by 48 percent during the administration of Democratic President Bill Clinton, dipping from 14.1 percent in January 1993 to 7.3 percent in December 2000. During the Bush presidency, black unemployment peaked at 11.8 percent in June 2003, marking the highest unemployment rate for blacks since May 1994.

The number of blacks without health insurance and living in poverty also have increased, the party said in the statement.

In the Sun story that included the controversial quote, Boggs McDonald was criticizing her Democratic opponent, Assemblyman David Goldwater, for embracing a slow-growth position in response to concerns about traffic, air and water quality and supply and other issues affected by population pressures.

Boggs McDonald said 170,000 people directly and indirectly get their livelihood from the construction industry in Clark County.

"It's easy to turn the spigot off, but it's hard to turn it back on," she said. "I want Las Vegas to be a place where people can find jobs and start businesses."

British Animal-Rights 'Hit List' Targets Children -- Is America Next?

This article is a good one regarding the peaceful, loving, animal rights idiots...

UK Animal Liberation Front leader Robin Webb told the Scottish Sunday Herald last weekend that violent attacks are likely to escalate, and warned that children were fair game:

There are about 2,000 people prepared at any one time to take action for us ... Bush is to blame for "making extreme weather stronger."
In an e-mail to supporters, MoveOn.org rhetorically asks "why such extreme weather" has taken place with Hurricanes Charley, Frances, and Ivan causing billions of dollars in property damage and loss of life.
"Scientists agree that global warming makes sea levels rise and makes storms stronger, because temperature shifts disrupt the normal balance," MoveOn.org explained. "Warmer water makes more violent hurricanes."
The group added that insurance companies such as Swiss Re and Munich Re say "global warming is causing more losses."
Ridiculing President George W. Bush for "handing out emergency aid" in Florida while doing "nothing to reduce global warming," MoveOn.org contends that the president has "done a lot to make the problem worse" and has caused the massive hurricanes to form.
Asking its members to write letters to the editor of their local newspapers, MoveOn.org offers key "talking points, sample letters, and a tool to find your local paper."
MoveOn.org points the finger at Bush, saying that he has "helped the oil companies drill more, and the big polluters pollute more, at every opportunity" while he "has done nothing to stop global warming pollution, which is making extreme weather stronger."
The leftist group supporting Democratic presidential nominee John F. Kerry said Bush "walked away from the Kyoto Protocol, the only major international treaty to curb global warming pollution" and allegedly "broke a campaign pledge to limit emissions of CO2, the biggest global warming pollutant."
Blaming Bush for giving "tens of billions of dollars in subsidies to oil and coal industries that cause most of this pollution," MoveOn.org said the president has done "virtually nothing to make our use of these energy sources more efficient or to promote cleaner alternatives."
Again accusing Bush of being responsible for the hurricanes, MoveOn.org said the letter campaign will get the word out of how dangerous weather is connected to the occupant of the White House.
"By writing to our local papers, we can reach out to neighbors who are concerned about the extreme weather but don't yet know the connection to President Bush protecting the polluters," MoveOn.org argued.
The e-mail concluded, "And best of luck coping with the weather."

The more Kerry says, the farther he sinks... Rush was rippin' him good on today's show.

Saw this piece and thought - yup, that is exactly what WE should be doing HERE - rounding illegals up and shippin' 'em out...racial profiling? Read on...

Presbyterian Preachiness
The Presbyterian Church betrays Christians.
By Eugene Kontorovich

What do the Presbyterian Church and the Syrian Baathist dictatorship have in common? They have both pledged themselves to cutting off ties with American firms doing business with Israel.

Syria started its economic warfare against Israel soon after the Jewish state gained independence. As a leading member of the Arab League, it implemented a boycott that extended to third-country firms having dealings with Israel. The effort has been run by the Central Boycott Office, headquartered in Damascus. Just last month, it moved to add Caterpillar, the large Peoria-based construction-equipment company, to its blacklist of firms trading with the enemy.

Recently, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) voted to divest from American companies that do business with Israel. The action, taken at the church's 216th General Assembly meeting in Richmond, is the first of its kind taken by an American denomination. Indeed, even colleges and universities, where anti-Israel campaigning is rampant, have rejected calls for divestment. As with Syria, Caterpillar is a particular object of Presbyterian ire.

The divestment action manifests a singular animosity towards Israel. The Presbyterians have not divested their funds from any of the cruel regimes of the world: not from China for its ethnic cleansing of Tibetans, and its repression of Muslems and Falun Gong; and not even from Sudan, currently engaged in the extermination of Africans in Darfur. But then again, Syria has not boycotted those states either.

One would expect the Presbyterian Church to use its economic clout with an eye to punishing the many regimes around the world that oppress their fellow Christians, and call attention to their plight. However, the church has not taken action against such nations as Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, or North Korea (whose government has reportedly murdered 300,000 Christians), where anti-Christian persecution has been detailed by Christian human-rights groups. Indeed, the Presbyterians have not even boycotted Lebanon, where Christians have been slaughtered by various Muslim groups. But then, neither has Syria, which controls Lebanon as a vassal state.

Since the creation of Israel, Christians have been able to worship there unmolested and unafraid. Israel does not afford Christians this treatment as a matter of sovereign grace or condescension, but rather because it shares the American values of religious freedom and pluralism. The Presbyterians have set themselves against the best and only friend and protector of Christianity in the Middle East.

They have done so to support a movement that has slaughtered Christians and defiled their holy places. Yasser Arafat, to whose aid the Presbyterians now come, massacred Christian civilians in Lebanon when his Fatah organization was based there. When Israel invaded to dislodge Arafat, it formed a 20-year alliance with the Christian minority. The Presbyterians' action takes the side of those who have cynically defiled holy Christian sites. The Church of the Nativity has been turned into terrorist hide-out and Manger Square into a place where people are publicly executed without trial.

Moreover, the assembly's action comes after the collapse of the intifada, and after Israel has declared its intent to withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, a move not matched by any Palestinian concessions. The signal this sends to Israel is that its efforts will never be deemed satisfactory, unless it gives in to maximalist Palestinian demands, demands that the failed Camp David negotiations revealed to go far beyond Israel's withdrawal from the territories.

The Presbyterians say the policy is prompted by Israel's treatment of Palestinians — the same line Syria advances these days. Yet it can't change the fact that the policy has the effect of economically strangling the only liberal democracy in the Middle East. Interestingly, the Presbyterians have not seen fit to take sanctions against the Palestinians on account of the hundreds of Jews they have murdered.

One hopes that the vote of the assembly does not represent the sentiments of three million members of the church. One also prays that the companies targeted for divestment will be no more swayed by it than by Syria's boycott.

— Eugene Kontorovich is a professor at George Mason University School of Law, in Arlington, Virginia, and an academic fellow with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a policy institute focused on terrorism.

FrontPage magazine.com :: The Islamic States of America? by Daniel Pipes

This article is required reading... Dare I say it? I think the war on poverty has been won — at least it is here in New York City, where even the poor are struggling with the battle of the bulge.
How can that be, you may ask? The homeless shelters are overflowing. People are living in the street. People do not have medical insurance. The latest census equates poverty as being $18,000 for a family of four. That may be valid on a chart, but it hardly represents poverty as defined by reality. Families in that income category qualify for Section 8 housing supplements, food stamps, HEAP, and Medicaid. They can also receive help from the Salvation Army to pay utility bills. Low-income families can also receive discounted telephone service. The benefits received garner as much as the equivalent of a $40,000 income, according to some conservative critics — benefits which they would lose if their income rises. Is this or is this not an impediment to ambition?
As for medical insurance, until the mid-1960s many employers did not offer medical insurance. Emergencies were taken care of in emergency rooms, doctor’s visits cost as low as $10, and children were taken care of in city health clinics. Once Medicaid arrived, Sutton Place doctors were billing the government for welfare patients and medical costs skyrocketed.
Most journalists may report on poverty but until you’ve actually lived the life, it’s hard to gauge how desperate people really are. Politicians aren’t really interested in the genuine poor because they rarely vote. People with money problems? Ah, that’s fertile ground for electioneering.
Liberals also have a tendency to view themselves as more humane, more caring than conservatives. They may toss biblical admonitions at conservatives but they misinterpret the Christian message about the poor. Christ did indeed exhort us to care for the poor, but his message is directed at our individual responsibility. He didn’t tell us to give our money to Caesar so that Caesar could dole out the cash. I always ask my liberal friends if they personally know anyone who is truly poor. Then I ask, why haven’t they done something about it?
Our church recently was visited by a missionary from Cross International who had returned from the missions in Africa and Central America. He told us of the children in Haiti who would eat dirt to stop their hunger pains.Yet only hours away, American children are coping with obesity from eating fast foods.
He also described a family in Mozambique who lived in a mud hut and lived on one meal of rice a day. Paging Teresa Heinz! Your homeland needs help.Check out www.crossinternational.org to see what a few dollars can do for the genuine poor.
What the unpenalized rich could do in the past is incredible. St. Rose’s Home at 71 Jackson Street in Lower Manhattan is a 35-bed nursing facility for indigent terminal cancer patients. I visited the newly renovated facility and was given a tour by Sister Mary Joseph of the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, N.Y.
This extraordinary home operates only on private donations. It does not take money from the government, Catholic Charities, or the archdiocese, yet it provides a pristine environment and excellent medical care. It only accepts cancer patients who have been diagnosed as terminal and are without means. This means, of course, that the nuns take care of the homeless and the undocumented souls at the end stage of their lives, when society can do little for them.
This remarkable order of nuns was founded by Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, the wealthy daughter of literary giant Nathaniel Hawthorne. Moved by the plight of 19th-century cancer patients who were left to die in the streets, this saintly woman took them into her home and nursed them with loving care. After being widowed, she founded the order of nuns whose sole mission is to provide care for terminal cancer indigents.
The good sisters do not fund-raise, and when I asked the sister if she would accept any donations that might be generated by this column, she agreed that she would, but she said, “What we really need are more nuns.”
St. Rose’s Home underwent a multimillion dollar renovation paid entirely by private donations that has transformed it into a premier cancer patient facility.
Tax breaks for the rich who know how to use them can sometimes be a very good thing.

Further evidence of the slow takeover....

This article provides a good example of my supervisor's husband - who won't allow his 5-6 year old daughter to take gym or ballet, etc... because she would have to wear shorts or leotard....insanity! But, it is spreading....
Little Girls Wearing Abayas
Raid Qusti, rqusti@arabnews.com

Sometimes, change takes place in society extremely slowly, so slowly that you hardly notice it. That change can be for better or worse. But the particular change I have in mind has got me thinking. The justification for it has yet to hit me.

A few years ago, up until the mid-eighties, young girls here were not obliged by society to wear abayas. Most girls did not wear them until they almost reached puberty — about 12 years. Recently, however, I have been seeing most Saudi girls, some as young as seven, wearing abayas. For a moment I thought it was just an occasional thing. But as I went out, whether it was to a local mall or a restaurant or a public hospital as I did a couple of days ago, I realized that it has now become the norm that little girls wear abayas; it now would be abnormal to see a little girl not wearing one.

This change that has taken place over the past six to seven years happened without people, especially sociologists, noticing it. The change, whether we like it or not, has now become part of our culture: To cover up little girls as young as seven in black abayas when they go out in public.

Ask any Saudi or foreigner who has lived here in the past 20 years and he will tell you that this was never the case in the past.

I remember praying in the Grand Mosque in Makkah during Eid in the late eighties and seeing little girls all dressed up for the occasion. I remember seeing boys wearing their new white or red headgear and new white thobes. I also remember girls wearing neat new dresses usually in white or light colors with new shoes for holiday. As children, not adults, they would run and play, enjoying the Eid spirit, exchanging gifts and candy, and doing everything children their age anywhere do.

Is our society becoming more restrictive than it already is? I keep asking myself that question.

The change in clothes for females in the past and present was a topic I discussed with some acquaintances over a dinner gathering. One Saudi from the Al-Ghamdi tribe mentioned how in Al-Baha, 30 years ago, Bedouin women did not use to wear abayas. They traditionally wore long dresses and covered their faces with a burqu that revealed only their eyes.

He reminded me of an old issue of National Geographic from 1982. In that issue was a special section about Saudi Arabia; there were photos of Bedouin women, dressed exactly as he described them.

There are those who defend women wearing black abayas in our country and there are those who do not. The fact of the matter is that whatever the two parties may argue, girls who have not reached puberty should not be deprived of their childhood, their moment of joy and happiness.

If the purpose of a woman wearing an abaya in our country is to conceal the shape of her body from preying eyes and to appear modest in public, then a girl who is seven years has nothing to do with either “body shape” or “modesty.” Her age and innocence have nothing to do with the adult world and its problems in Saudi Arabia.

When I see how families dress up little girls in black abayas I get both disturbed and offended at the same time. I get disturbed because I realize that that poor child has nothing to do with society or its problems. The child is at an age where she should be having fun and growing up in a normal way without any hang-ups. I feel offended because I feel that her parents who dress her up in a black abaya at such an early age think most of their fellow Saudi men are sexual freaks who would actually look at a girl her age in a sexual manner and make it necessary for her to be covered up in black.

While in 1984, it was abnormal for a little Saudi girl to wear an abaya, 20 years later, it has become abnormal for such a girl to not wear one — a 180-degree change. How will it be in 2014? Will the social changes in our country force girls to also cover their hair at the age of seven in addition to their wearing abayas? Will we be seeing little girls having their faces covered as well another ten years down the line?

Tale of the 205-mph biker

St. Paul Pioneer Press has a story about something I saw yesterday - a motorcycle reported to have gone 200+ mph....nuts!

Nader's got a right to complain

Reagerdless of your political affiliation, you have to feel for Nader. The Dems are scared out of their minds this election. Anyone who pays attention has known this for a while. The following sums it up pretty well as far as the crap the Dems are playing this hand:

By Sue Pleming
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader accused his Democratic rival Sen. John Kerry on Tuesday of being responsible for a campaign to try and keep him off the Nov. 2 ballot.

Seen by many Democrats as the "spoiler" in the 2000 election that elected Republican George W. Bush as president, Nader's campaign said it was fighting 21 legal cases in 17 states in a bid to get the consumer advocate on the ballot.

Nader pointed the finger at Kerry and Democratic Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe for being behind what his campaign says is a program of harassment, intimidation and phony lawsuits that are costing tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

"The ballot access has drained our time and our resources," Nader told a news conference. "I have to hold Sen. John Kerry and Terry McAuliffe directly responsible."

The Kerry campaign did not immediately return phone calls asking for a response.

Nader's campaign played a tape they said was testimony by the head of the Democratic Party in Maine who is heard saying that the Democratic National Committee is paying for her time and expenses related to trying to keep Nader off the ballot.

The Nader campaign said that kind of coordination appeared to be illegal and should be investigated by the Federal Elections Commission.

His campaign said Nader was on the ballot in 29 states.

Nader called the Democrats "gutless, spineless, clueless and hapless" and said their gamble that people would vote for anyone but Bush was misguided and would make them lose the election.

Democrats around the United States have been challenging Nader's presence on the ballot, fearing he will again boost Bush's re-election chances by drawing votes that would otherwise go to Kerry.

Polls indicate the 2004 election may be as close as the one in 2000 when the Supreme Court ruled on the Florida recount to hand Bush victory over Democrat Al Gore.

Last week, Florida's Supreme Court ordered Nader could be allowed to compete in the state and a judge also ordered that he be included on the ballot in Colorado.

Judges in New Mexico and Arkansas have denied Nader access to the Nov. 2 ballot, but he did win a spot on the ballot in Maryland.

I like this: "Nader called the Democrats "gutless, spineless, clueless and hapless" and said their gamble that people would vote for anyone but Bush was misguided and would make them lose the election."

Public Enquiry Project: JOHN F. The word "dhimmitude" as a historical concept, was coined by Bat Ye'or in 1983 to describe the legal and social conditions of Jews and Christians subjected to Islamic rule. The word "dhimmitude" comes from dhimmi, an Arabic word meaning "protected". Dhimmi was the name applied by the Arab-Muslim conquerors to indigenous non-Muslim populations who surrendered by a treaty (dhimma) to Muslim domination. (courtesy dhimmitude.org)

This article is from Frontpage Magazine. As I have been hearing every so often, Europe is on a collision course with "Islamo-fascists" eventually taking over what we currently know as Europe.
Eurabia is the future of Europe. Its driving force, the Parliamentary Association for Euro-Arab Cooperation, was created in Paris in 1974. It now has over six hundred members -- from all major European political parties -- active in their own national parliaments, as well as in the European parliament. The creation of this body and its policy follow the 23 resolutions of the "Second International Conference in Support of the Arab Peoples", held in Cairo in January 1969. Its resolution 15 formulates the Euro-Arab policy and its all-embracing development over thirty years in European domestic and foreign policy.
It stated: "The conference decided to form special parliamentary groups, where they did not exist, and to use the parliamentary platform for promoting support of the Arab people and the Palestinian resistance." In the 1970s, pursuant to the wishes of the Cairo Conference, national groups proclaiming "Solidarity with the Palestinian Resistance and the Arab peoples" appeared throughout Europe. These groups belonged to different political families, Gaullists, extreme left or right, communists, neo-Nazis -- but they all shared the same anti-Americanism and anti-Zionism. France has been the key protagonist of this policy, ever since de Gaulle's press conference on 27 November 1967 when he presented France's cooperation with the Arab world as "the fundamental basis of our foreign policy".

The wheels have already been set in motion. If America does not hold steadfast and true to certain ideologies, we may fall victims to this as well. A long article, but well worth the read.

A good breakdown of the Rathergate action is available for your perusal at our frinds at Allahpundit.

Not today...

Woke up today and realized that I was not interested in any news today. Lazy? Maybe. Just sick of the Rather-gate thing, it is so evident what happened. Anyway... just not feeling it today.
Well, at 1:09 and back from lunch. Here it is, in case you haven't read it by now...(courtesy Drudge)

EXCLUSIVE // Mon Sep 20 2004 11:58:02 ET
STATEMENT FROM DAN RATHER:

Last week, amid increasing questions about the authenticity of documents used in support of a 60 MINUTES WEDNESDAY story about President Bush's time in the Texas Air National Guard, CBS News vowed to re-examine the documents in question—and their source—vigorously. And we promised that we would let the American public know what this examination turned up, whatever the outcome.

Now, after extensive additional interviews, I no longer have the confidence in these documents that would allow us to continue vouching for them journalistically. I find we have been misled on the key question of how our source for the documents came into possession of these papers. That, combined with some of the questions that have been raised in public and in the press, leads me to a point where—if I knew then what I know now—I would not have gone ahead with the story as it was aired, and I certainly would not have used the documents in question.

But we did use the documents. We made a mistake in judgment, and for that I am sorry. It was an error that was made, however, in good faith and in the spirit of trying to carry on a CBS News tradition of investigative reporting without fear or favoritism.

Please know that nothing is more important to us than people's trust in our ability and our commitment to report fairly and truthfully.

Love the part about their "commitment to report fairly and truthfully." We were all crammed in to see Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent blow the doors off the place. As everyone was grousing about the Los Angeles smoking ban, I could not help but chuckle to myself as I thought that if Johnny Ramone and Kid Rock joined them on stage, we would be at the one and only rock-n-roll Republican jam session.

Of course, everyone knows about all the Democrat rockers. Bruce Springsteen even wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times. How is that for rock-n-roll? All the hipsters have signed up to do fundraising concerts for John Kerry because, uh, well, he is not George W. Bush. It has been speculated that these concerts will raise upwards of $44 million dollars for the Kerry/Edwards campaign — becoming the rather absurd situation of rich musicians raising money for even richer politicians.

Having rock stars snatching cash for liberal causes is not really news. Who is startled to hear that Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks are joining Dave Matthews and Jon Bon Jovi in hawking tickets for the Democratic National Committee?

The more intriguing stories, of course, revolve around independent rockers who do not tow the party line of Rolling Stone, notable house organ for the Democrats (except when P.J. O'Rourke lampooned the Commies).

On Thursday it was qnnounced that guitarist Johnny Ramone, one of the great independent-minded rockers, died in his sleep after battling prostrate cancer for the last five years. He was 55 years old. Born John Cummings, he was one of the founding members of the legendary American punk-rock band the Ramones (named after an alias that Paul McCartney used when checking into hotels).

"He was the leader of the band when things got tough," Marky Ramone told the Associated Press. "To me, it's like losing a brother. I'll never forget him."

Johnny Ramone, was indeed, an unforgettable character. While the Ramones were being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, Johnny took his opportunity at the microphone to make his allegiances known. "God bless President Bush," he said, "and God bless America." Bedecked in his trademark torn jeans and black leather motorcycle jacket, he understatedly thumbed his nose at he lockstep orthodoxy of the rock establishment. Now, that is punk rock.

"I said that to counter those other speeches at the other awards," Ramone told the Washington Times. "Republicans let this happen over and over, and there is never anyone to stick up for them. They spend too much time defending themselves."

On his website, Ramone assembled Top-10 lists of his favorite baseball players (Greg Maddux), guitarists (Jimmy Page), singers (Elvis), Elvis films (Loving You), and horror films (Bride of Frankenstein). He even listed his favorite Republicans: Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Charlton Heston, Vincent Gallo, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sean Hannity, Ted Nugent, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Barr, and Tom DeLay.

"It was in 1960, the Nixon-Kennedy election," Ramone told the Washngton Times, that he first realized he was a Republican. "People around me were saying, "'Oh, Kennedy's so handsome,' and I thought, 'Well, if these people are going to vote for someone based on how he looks, I don't want to be party to that."

Ramone's conservativism extended to his financial advice for the band — encouraging them to demand more money for shows and driving nonstop between cities to save on hotels. His bandmates called him the "Rush Limbaugh of rock-n-roll."

After hearing Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats complaining about high taxes, Ramone told him the charges would be higher without the Bush tax cuts. "I told him he needs to vote Republican to keep his taxes lower — and donate to President Bush's campaign," he recalled.

Ironically, Ramone had an eclectic collection of friends who included shock rocker Rob Zombie, provocative filmmaker Vincent Gallo, and Bush-basher Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. After Vedder impaled a mask of President Bush during a concert, Ramone tried to convince him of how alienating his political theater was for fans.

"I try to make a dent in people when I can," he said. "I figure people drift toward liberalism at a young age, and I always hope that they change when they see how the world really is."

Ramone died only days after a tribute concert was held in Los Angeles to celebrate the band's 30th anniversary. The proceeds went to the Lymphoma Research foundation and the Cedars-Sinai Prostate Cancer Center. Singer Joey Ramone died three years ago from lymphoma, and Dee Dee Ramone died from a drug overdose in 2002.

Emcee Rob Zombie called Johnny Ramone on a cellphone from the concert so that the fans could yell, "Hey ho, let's go!" That was a fitting way for a rocker to leave the stage, knowing that his fans will never forget the music.

Gabba gabba, hey, Johnny. Thereby making the Kinko's surveillance tape "evidence" of a crime! Subpoena those things NOW! There are probably fax logs as well... Sounds as if someone at the Kinko's may help the truth come out... (found link on FR)
Having done somethinking regarding the memo-gate issue, I have come to realize that since the Clinton administration, the "truth" is no longer objective, it is subjective. How can forged documents be "accurate?" Limbaugh had some good analogies: to convict Scott Peterson, all we need to do is forge a written confession, forge Peterson's signature, and present it in court as evidence. Then, according to new "rules of the game" per Rather and co., just say that it is accurate evidence because we "know" he committed the murder. Wishing and hoping something is true, does not make it so!! Oy..."it all depends upon what your definition of the word is is." And that, my friends, has, I believed, propelled us to where we find ourselves now.

CBS Guard Documents Traced to Tex. For some reason my posting ability was not working properly yesterday.

Yet more reasons that Democrats are soft and weak - both ideologically and as evidenced by the joke that Albright represents.

Of course you have to read Ann Coulter!! Posted here for your convenience:

"There's been a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth among the Democrats since Vice President Cheney said if the country makes the wrong choice on Election Day, "then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States." (I mean there is weeping among Democrats who aren't actually rooting for us to get hit again because "we deserve it!")

I believe this is one of those "issues" Democrats claim to be champing at the bit to discuss – in lieu of discussing the charges of the Swift Boat veterans. In fact, there is no more important issue in this election: Which candidate will best protect America from terrorist attack? Hint: It's not the guy whose running mate (sounding so much like Sean Hayes from "Will and Grace" it was eerie) said their message to the terrorists was: "We will destroy youuuuuuu!"

Of course, it gets complicated trying to do a side-by-side comparison of the candidates' positions on terrorism since we don't know which John Kerry is running for president. The one who opposes war with Iraq or the one who supports it? The one who opposes the Patriot Act or the one who voted for it? The one who wants to work with the allies, or the one who ridicules them when they support America?

The only way Kerry's constantly changing positions on little matters like war would seem rational is if we found out he was using a Ouija board to determine his positions – much as he's using a crystal ball to predict when we should start removing U.S. troops from Iraq. Six months – whoops, no, four years. Stupid crystal balls – they never work!

Republicans have been having raucous fun trying to predict what Kerry's next policy shift will be. Education? AIDS? Pollution? Dang! He picked women's rights! OK, here's another dollar. Give me three more balls, please.

While waiting for the Ouija board to give us Kerry's final answer on the Iraq war, perhaps we could get an answer on something simpler – like whether or not Kerry owns an SUV.

During the Democratic primaries, Kerry went to Michigan and bragged to the Detroit News: "We have some SUVs. We have a Jeep. We have a couple of Chrysler minivans. We have a PT Cruiser up in Boston. I have an old Dodge 600 that I keep in the Senate. ... We also have a Chevy, a big Suburban." He was starting to sound like a used-car dealer in a giant cowboy hat peddling his wares in a cheesy, low-budget late-night TV commercial: "We got Jeeps, we got PT Cruisers, we got minivans, and they're priced to move, folks ..."

But a few months after Kerry won the Michigan primary in February, the feckless opportunist told a bunch of environmentalists: "I don't own an SUV." When pressed on the apparent contradiction, Kerry explained: "The family has it. I don't have it." We're still waiting for reaction from some group calling themselves "SUV Owners for the Truth."

As I recall, when it came to funding his campaign last January with a $6 million mortgage on the "family" home in Boston – owned by Kerry's billionaire wife – he was not so picky about what he owns and what she owns. Back then, Kerry had somewhat more liberal views on the notion of "community property" – or maybe that was just the pre-nup talking.

The "family" angle could also explain Kerry's positions on the wall in Israel: His wife supports it and he opposes it!

Speaking to an Arab group in Michigan in October 2003, Kerry called Israel's erection of a wall between Israeli and Palestinian areas "another barrier to peace."

But a few months later, Kerry got on the fence on the subject of the wall. Adding clarity to the subject, his campaign issued a memo in February, saying Kerry took the precise opposite position of his earlier position. The memo said: "John Kerry supports the construction of Israel's security fence to stop terrorists from entering Israel. The security fence is a legitimate act of self-defense ..."

So the wall was either (1) a barrier to peace or (2) a legitimate act of self-defense. But as for the convention, Miller was good - it is funny to me that a Republican didn't make that speech. What does that say about the party? Yeah, I know about all the back-room stuff, but it was great to hear those words... Cheney was good, about what I expected - pretty cool and calm - all business. I think the speeches have been a great windup for the President's speech tonight. If hurricane preparations don't take over, I will watch it... Standby... Further proof Chris Matthews is irrelevant:

TV swamps convention with blather
By Robert Bianco, USA TODAY
"Still, when it comes to luxuriating in the sound of your own voice, even O'Reilly must bow to MSNBC's Chris Matthews. In one of the convention's more bizarre exchanges, Matthews interrupted a Joe Scarborough screed about immigration Tuesday to ask, "Who are your favorite immigrants?" Luckily for a seemingly nonplused Scarborough, he didn't have to answer, as the question was merely an excuse for Matthews to tell us, "Mine are the West Africans." No doubt they were thrilled to hear it.
While it's shameful that the broadcast networks can only be
bothered to devote an hour tonight to the Republican convention, the cutback
does have advantages. The compressed time frame means you'll hear nothing but
the speech and, at most, some quick snatches of instant analysis. Anyway, if
this is what convention coverage looks like in the new age, better the networks
stick to entertainment."

Just listening to Laura Ingraham's show - man, wish I would have seen Miller on Chris Matthew's "show" last nite, she had the sound clips - GO ZELL MILLER!!

The "Times" Is Over

Here is a good piece on the N.Y.Times and illustrates that "words mean things." I hope that the American public sees through the ridiculous stunt which the Kerry campaign attempted to pull off. This link will take you to a great piece regarding Cleland. Kerry refuses to let the Vietnam issue die....

TELL ONE TELL ALL - John Kerry 1971 Testimony Before Senate Foreign Relations Cmte.On C-SPAN at 8pm ET tonight!!

Beware of the Metrosexuals! Read it now at Pastabagel.com, pretty cool blog.

"Poverty" in America - maybe we need to re-examine exactly what "poverty" means. This article from the Heritage Foundation is something to ponder... Am I impoverished....maybe?

Well, here we go with a comment left regarding Kerry, which I will deconstruct as well:
Someone wrote:
"Or how about that fella Bush that has no Purple Hearts and no scars on his lanky body because he was here at home partying while others were taking his place in Viet Nam.

(Nice try, first of all, Bush has released ALL documents regarding his Guard service, Kerry has yet to release his. Second of all, it was Kerry who uttered the ill-fated words "Reporting for duty" at the convention. No free passes, sorry. Third, stop with the "partying" reference, that's, like, sooooo 2000. Fourth, Kerry isn't lanky? lurchlike?)

I have a purple heart, I show not sign of scars on my once lanky body. What exactly is it you are trying to say?
(Um, that Kerry is a liar regarding his Vietnam experiences - compare his personal notes & journal with the Brinkley book. And that his idiotic, anti-American lies caused pain and suffering for untold numbers of our military. His Christmas in Cambodia story turned out to be a lie, need more examples...?)

If you don't like Kerry's policies, attack the policies, but never attack anyone's military service for political reasons.

(You will see that I said "I will not question his patriotism while serving, but it is what he said and did when he returned that angers me.")

I know, I know, you will say that Bush served as well. Without getting into the ridiculous arguement on whether he did actually serve the commitment he signed up for, the Texas National Guard is hardly comparable to Active duty service, and the unit that he was in was a notoriuos unit for Rich Men's son's.

(Notorious to who? Again, the "daddy's rich son" thing is old, get over it. Kerry has more money...ooops, I mean his wife has more money that Bush and Cheney. Also, did Kerry serve his reserve duty time upon his return...um, don't think so. Also, as for Bush's unit, there were many who lost their lives in the same planes he flew. I thought you said "never attack anyone's military service for political reasons." So here the dems, I think, have taken it to another new low, having a crippled/amputee/Vietnam vet(whose service to the country I don't argue with, but I do argue the fact that he lost his limbs in a bout with a hand grenade and is now, to some, the greatest most valorous vet alive) wheeling around denouncing Bush's...denouncement of all 527's... It has literally become a theatre of the absurd!

Kerry the Author

The above link is related to my previous mention of the early Kerry book "The New Soldier." This is a good article by Thomas Sowell with regard to Kerry's actions after the war. It is solely Kerry's own words and actions which took place after the war that make him despised by so many vets, and non-vets alike. Click this link for a free online version of the book

Having said that, Kerry contacted a Swiftboat Vet who informed Kerry that he was a memeber of the same 527 Kerry is so afraid of. Instead of immediately hanging the phone up, Kerry engaged and questioned the individual. Would this not be a violation of federal election laws regarding 527's? Here is a link with more info. Even my wife has commented on how funny it is that Kerry is so angry regarding the Swiftboat Vets ad(s) - meanwhile anti-Bush ads are run practically every third commercial here - with NO running of the Swiftboat Vets ad! Thanks again libs, for using, shall I say "brown-shirt" tactics (no, ALbert Gore Jr. said that one already) to bully television stations into not running the ad. The libs are always the first to scream about the First Amendment... it's beginning to make me tired....

Sitting here in limbo...

...waiting for the boss to arrive....and, alas, she is not going to...peace and quiet in the office!

I have almost reached the end of my rope with the recent Kerry/Swiftvets debacle. One ad run against Kerry and he starts whining and crying like a little baby...I thought it was Kerry who stated to "bring it on." When you stand at the convention and proclaim you're "reporting for duty," you sure as hell better be able to back it up. I will not question his patriotism while serving, but it is what he said and did when he returned that angers me. If you are unfamiliar with the book Kerry wrote, The New Soldier, you can peruse it by clicking here.
Never heard of it or seen it before? No wonder, considering the Kerry goons sought out to destroy the book prior to his run for Senate. Ebay has a copy or two for several hundred dollars.

As much as I can't stand the Demoncratic Party, it amazes me that they don't have a candidate better than Kerry. But what would you expect from them? If I have to see him pumping his arm in the air like some frail, Mr. Burns type character, and trying to cuddle up for some lovin' from Theresa, aka "Momma T," I'm going to scream..... The way he continually tries to sneak a kiss from her onstage....puhleeze. Kerry is just so pathetic I can not believe that this election will be as close as some are predicting... And I must admit that what the dems are doing to Nader is ridiculous. If a conservative group were getting his name knocked off the ballot in one state, let alone more than one, would it recieve more press? I hope you know the answer to that.

Here is an interesting article on the dwindling Christian population in the middle-east. It makes me sad that they are, in effect, a "dying" people....to read the article, click here.

And let us not forget the Prebyterian church divesting from Israel.... Who would ever think I would agree with Alan Dershowitz! To read the article, click here. I am as angry about this as I am about the Catholic Church still not having a zero-tolerance policy for pedophiles who are also, interestingly enough, priests....

Kudos to Michelle Malkin for knocking one out of the park when it comes to profiling. Check this one out. The "politically correct mentality" (ie, living in fear of upsetting anyone) is helping to pave the way for the demise of this country. Of course we all know the "profile" of those who are resposible for 99.999% of all acts of terrorism, but for goodness sakes, we can't act on it because we could upset them.... yes, our enemies. They have taken one aspect of what makes this country great, and are utilizing our system for their benefit, which is, ultimately, our demise. Thanks libs!

And as the workday is winding down...of course the torrential late afternoon Florida storms are winding up - typical!
